The movie “Ooru Peru Bhairavakona,” starring Sundeep Kishan, gained a lot of attention because of its popular songs and interesting trailer. The fantasy film, directed by VI Anand, features Varsha Bollamma and Kavya Thapar as the main actresses. The filmmakers were so sure about the movie’s quality that they decided to have early premieres. Now, let’s find out how the film turned out.

STORY :

Basava (played by Sundeep Kishan) works as a stunt double in movies. Because he urgently needs money, he ends up taking jewelry from a bride during a wedding. Basava is joined by his friend John (Viva Harsha). While running away from the police, they come across Agraharam Geetha (Kavya Thapar), who has had an accident. They decide to help Geetha and bring her along in their car. Together, Basava, John, and Geetha find themselves in a mysterious place called Bhairavakona, where strange things start happening. What are these strange occurrences? Why did Basava resort to stealing jewelry? Who is Bhoomi (Varsha Bollamma), and what is her connection to Basava? What is the mystery behind Bhairavakona? These questions make up the main story.

POSITVE ASPECTS :

Sundeep Kishan, the actor known for trying different types of movies, has taken on a new challenge with “Ooru Peru Bhairavakona.” In this film, he plays the character Basava, and his performance is sincere. Sundeep does well with his body language, dialogue delivery, and expressions. His scenes with Viva Harsha are enjoyable.

Kavya Thapar has a significant role in the movie, and she meets the expectations for her character. She looks good on screen and adds to the humor in the scenes. Varsha Bollamma also delivers a good performance, but the writing for her character could have been better.

Before the movie’s release, Sundeep Kishan and the team mentioned that there would be a good amount of humor in the film. True to their word, the movie indeed has some funny moments that will make you laugh. Viva Harsha and Vennela Kishore contribute well to the comedy, and their witty lines are sure to bring smiles. Especially, Viva Harsha stands out with his character, which is a blend of innocence and silliness.

NEGATIVE ASPECTS :

Ooru Peru Bhairavakona faces several issues in its storytelling. The main problem is the love story that the entire movie is based on. There aren’t enough scenes between Sundeep Kishan and Varsha Bollamma, making it hard to feel connected to their emotions. A crucial scene in the second half, involving the lead pair, should have been emotional and surprising, but the way it’s presented makes it less impactful. Despite having two popular songs, their placement in the movie doesn’t add much value.

The film tries to include various genres, but the execution falls short. The director hints at a mystery behind Bhairavakona from the beginning, but the suspense is not built up well. The stakes are not high enough, so the audience may not be interested in unraveling the mystery.

While the first half has some enjoyable moments, the actual story kicks in only halfway through. The interval scene is decent, but the lack of effective scene staging and world-building minimizes its impact. Both halves lack exciting moments or thrills. Although there are some fun scenes, the movie falls short overall due to a lack of emotional depth and a flat narrative.

The second half feels rushed, giving a sense that the movie ends abruptly. The heroine’s backstory is a cliché, and the attempt to blend it with fantasy, comedy, horror, and suspense feels forced and not well-executed.

TECHNICAL ELEMENTS :

The songs by Shekar Chandra in Ooru Peru Bhairavakona are beautiful, but they feel a bit out of place because of issues with the writing. The art direction team did an excellent job, creating a splendid look for the village locations, and cinematographer Raj Thota captured them neatly. However, the editing falls short, especially in the second half, where things seem rushed. The visual effects could have been better too.

Director VI Anand once again took on a unique concept, but it didn’t quite hit the mark. While the film has some interesting moments and fun scenes, the weak second half and unsatisfying ending leave the audience feeling disappointed. The handling of emotions, thrills, and suspense elements is not done well.

CONCLUSION :

Ooru Peru Bhairavakona tries to combine fantasy and love elements but falls short of expectations. The first half is okay, but the second half is not that great. Sundeep Kishan, Viva Harsha, Varsha Bollamma, and Kavya Thapar do well in their roles, and the funny scenes keep us interested. The filmmakers attempted to give a mix of different genres, but the movie lacks a strong impact due to poor execution. If the emotional and thrilling parts were handled better, it could have been a more satisfying watch. So, it’s recommended to watch Ooru Peru Bhairavakona with low expectations.
