Is Aha OTT Platform Up for Sale by Allu Aravind?

Aha, a prominent Telugu OTT platform launched in 2020, jointly owned by Arha Media and Broadcasting Private Limited (led by Allu Aravind) and My Home Group, expanded its reach with the introduction of Aha Tamil in 2022. Despite gaining substantial viewership, the digital streaming platform faces financial challenges typical in the industry. Aha invested significantly in original productions, such as Balakrishna’s Unstoppable show, to attract audiences.

However, the financial strain arises from the high costs of content, including movies and web series. Aha’s focus on smaller films has limited its revenue potential, as medium and big-budget productions find their way to larger platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney + Hotstar, and Zee5. Additionally, Aha’s comparatively lower subscription price adds to the financial pressure.

Sources suggest that the Aha team is now considering selling the platform due to the perceived high-risk nature and operational challenges. Discussions are reportedly underway with potential buyers, including Sony Network, Sun Network, and other major vendors.
