Story :
Sujatha (played by Shalini Kondepudi), who spends her days crafting words for a dating app. But her relationship with Varun (played by Nikhil Gajula) hits a rough patch. Feeling overlooked by everyone, even her best friend Bujji (played by Divya Sripada), Sujatha craves connection. Then, along comes Suresh (played by Abhinav Gomatam), a petty thief, who unexpectedly touches her life. Positive Aspects :
Shalini, who not only wrote but also acts in “My Dear Donga,” shines brightly on screen. She effortlessly embodies the character of Sujatha, delivering her lines with natural ease and showcasing great comedic timing.
The humor in the film’s early scenes, particularly when Shalini’s character encounters the robber, feels genuine and generates plenty of laughs. Abhinav Gomatam’s portrayal of the thief adds a charming touch to the story.
Nikhil Gajula, playing Shalini’s boyfriend, delivers an impressive performance. His portrayal of jealousy when Shalini’s character grows closer to Abhinav’s thief is both relatable and amusing, bringing a smile to the audience’s faces.

Negative Aspects :
One big gripe today’s young folks have is feeling ignored and lonely, and Shalini taps into this in the movie, making it resonate with them. But, sadly, the film falls short on delivering the emotional depth needed to really hit home.
Shalini’s character is swayed by simple acts of kindness from a robber, leading her to make important life choices. However, the film doesn’t quite deliver enough heartfelt moments to make these decisions feel believable.
The final twenty minutes feel a bit messy, lacking clarity in storytelling. The humor, which worked well at the start, falls flat in the latter part of the movie. For example, the scene at the police station is poorly written and executed.
At first, when Shalini’s character breaks the fourth wall and speaks directly to the audience, it’s a nice touch. But using this technique too much weakens its impact.
While product placement is common in movies, “My Dear Donga” goes overboard with it, which might annoy viewers after a while.
Technical Elements :
Ajay Arasada’s music and background score are pretty good. SS Manoj’s camera work is nice, capturing the limited locations well. The editing is sharp, keeping the pace smooth. Overall, the production quality is decent.
However, B.S. Sarwagna Kumar’s direction is just alright. The main issue with the film is its simple plot lacking emotional depth. While Shalini performs well, the writing could have been stronger.
