Wars Don’t Arise Becz of Bombs; Arise from Mindset – Puri

Puri Jagannadh, the acclaimed filmmaker behind hits like ‘Idiot,’ ‘Pokiri,’ and ‘iSmart Shankar,’ recently shared profound insights on his new podcast, available on the Puri Jagannadh YouTube channel, boasting 1.26 million subscribers.

In his podcast, he said ”in 1965, Pope Saint John delivered a speech aimed at humanity, titled “PACEM IN TERRIS,” which means “peace on Earth”. In his speech, he called for all countries to stop the production of arms and to ban nuclear bombs, which received significant applause. however, in 1985, jiddu krishnamurti discussed the same topic, questioning, ‘Why Can’t Man Live In Peace?’.

Despite all religions preaching peace for thousands of years, every war that has occurred and continues to happen is because of these religions. Not only religion but individual human beings constantly live in conflict; with their neighbour, their family, society, and even with themselves.

Moreover, a person stands up for their family, society, language, country and religion, participating in various types of wars. Conflicts between countries, groups and ideologies are ever-present. When have we ever lived peacefully without war? Wars always occur somewhere. To stop wars, we must first stop the small everyday conflicts and intolerance among ourselves. A quarrel between two people in a village could potentially split the village in two, and over generations, they could become two distinct communities, eventually leading to a world war. A small quarrel can mutate and persist for centuries. If it’s going to be stopped, it needs to be stopped now. You have the power to make today’s present the future. A simple practice is not only to love your religion but also to respect the religion of others. Greeting a person of another faith with ‘Hello, how are you? How are your children?”.

can prevent a war, as opposed to confrontational remarks that can lead to continued conflict. Such negative thoughts grow and get passed down through generations, eventually leading to wars. You may not realize now, but such remarks could be the cause of a world war in 2050. Wars do not arise because of atom bombs; they arise from the mindset that creates atom bombs. Please learn to live peacefully and stop perpetuating conflicts.

Jagannadh highlighted the perpetual conflicts ingrained within individuals and societies, emphasizing that wars, whether large-scale or small, stem from unresolved conflicts and intolerance among people. He stressed the importance of respecting diverse beliefs and fostering peace through simple gestures of kindness and understanding.

Amidst these reflections, Jagannadh announced his upcoming project, the sequel to ‘iSmart Shankar,’ which is ‘Double Ismart’ featuring Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. Scheduled for release on June 14, 2024, the film promises an enthralling narrative accompanied by Mani Sharma’s music, produced by Jagannadh and Charmy Kaur.
