Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film, ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue,’ made headlines for its title change, replacing ‘India’ with ‘Bharat.’ The trailer launch now hints at an intense real-life rescue thriller.
The movie is inspired by Jaswant Singh Gill’s heroic rescue mission, saving 64 miners trapped deep in Raniganj’s coalfields. Akshay Kumar portrays this real-life hero.
Set in November 1989, the trailer depicts a tragic incident at Mahabir Colliery in Raniganj, West Bengal. Despite rescuing over a hundred miners initially, 65 remained trapped as floodwaters rose. Gill devised an innovative plan to save them all.
Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, known for ‘Rustom,’ and produced by Pooja Entertainment, the film stars Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Mukesh Bhatt, Akshay Verma, and Sudhir Pandey.
