In the latest Ranji Trophy, Hyderabad’s Tanmay Agarwal delivered an outstanding performance by scoring an impressive 366 runs against Arunachal Pradesh. This achievement secured him the fourth-highest individual score in the tournament’s history. Agarwal’s exceptional innings, completed in just 181 balls, included the fastest triple century of his First-Class cricket career, contributing significantly to Hyderabad’s commanding total of 615/4d at the NexGen Cricket Ground in Hyderabad.
Expressing his feelings, Agarwal said, “I feel good and grateful. After I reached 150, I just started hitting, and luck was on my side. The ball consistently found the middle of the bat, and I just kept batting and hitting.”
Although his score of 366 was impressive, it fell short of the record held by Bhausaheb Nimbalkar, who scored 443* in 1948. The second and third highest scores are held by Prithvi Shaw (397 in 2023) and Sanjay Manjrekar (377 in 1991), both from Mumbai. Tanmay Agarwal shares the fourth-highest score with MV Sridhar, another Hyderabad batter, who scored 366 in the 1993/94 season. The overall highest First-Class score remains with Brian Lara, who hit 501* in 1994 for Warwickshire.
