Story :
In the small village of Satthipalli, located in Khammam district, a curious tale unfolds in the film “Lineman.” The story centers around Lineman Natraj, fondly known as Nattu (played by Thrigun). In the heart of the village, resides Devudamma (portrayed by Jayashree), a beloved midwife who has guided countless women through the miracle of childbirth for generations. As Devudamma approaches her remarkable milestone of turning 100 years old, the entire village eagerly prepares for a grand celebration in her honor.
However, a peculiar twist arises when Nattu takes an unexpected decision. With a flick of a switch, he shuts off the electricity grid, causing confusion and concern among the villagers. He explains that this action is necessary to save four precious lives and announces that the electricity supply will remain suspended for a few more days.
The crux of “Lineman” lies in uncovering the reasons behind Nattu’s unconventional choice. As the villagers grapple with the disruption and seek answers, the film delves into the depths of Nattu’s motivations, weaving a compelling narrative that explores the complexities of human decision-making and the bonds of community in the face of adversity.
Positive Aspects :
Thrigun, known for his natural acting talent, effortlessly brings Lineman Nattu to life on the screen. His dialogue delivery, body language, and emotions particularly shine in the second half of the film. Senior actress Jayashree, portraying the midwife role, delivers a splendid performance, capturing the essence of her character with grace and skill.
Negative Aspects:
The movie talks about how important it is to respect all living beings, but it’s confusing because the main character causes a lot of trouble for the villagers while trying to save some birds. This puts many people, from babies to the elderly, in danger or discomfort, which doesn’t make sense.
The solution the movie suggests doesn’t seem like something that could work for everyone. It shows a few incidents where similar things happened in other villages, but that doesn’t mean it’s a practical solution for everyone. Also, the film talks about how being too addicted to phones can harm relationships, but electricity is important for many other things too, not just phones. Living without it is hard, especially nowadays. Mobile phones aren’t just for fun, they’re a big part of our lives in many ways. If the movie had focused more on social media addiction, it would have made more sense.
Because of these things, the message of the movie feels a bit too preachy. The way it’s made isn’t very good either. Not much happens in the first half, and the comedy is annoying. There are songs that don’t really fit, and some scenes feel like they belong in a soap opera. The slow pace of the movie might make you lose interest. There are also extra comedy scenes and storylines that don’t add much to the movie and just make it worse.
Technical Elements:
The movie doesn’t do well in terms of how it’s made. The music, editing, how the scenes are filmed, and the overall quality of the production aren’t very good. The main idea of the movie and how it’s shown aren’t very believable. Except for Thrigun and a few other characters, the actors’ lip movements don’t match the words they’re saying. The things the characters say aren’t written very well either. Overall, the movie doesn’t come together very nicely.
Conclusion :
Overall, “Lineman” is centered on a strange idea that doesn’t seem realistic, and the story is pretty dull. There are many parts of the movie that don’t really fit with the main idea it’s trying to explore. Thrigun and senior actress Jayashree are the only really good parts of this village drama. So, it’s probably better to pick something else to watch this weekend.
