Abhinav Gomatam, known for his comedic roles, takes on the lead role in the film “Masthu Shades Unnai Ra.” Directed by Thirupati Rao, the movie features Vaishali Raj as the female lead. Let’s delve into the film and see how it unfolds.

Story :

Manohar, played by Abhinav Gomatam, is an artist. His life takes a bad turn on his wedding day when the bride runs away. Because Manohar isn’t well-educated and financially stable, his family disapproves. Feeling hurt, Manohar decides to start a printing shop. To do that, he tries to learn Photoshop and joins a coaching institute where Uma, played by Vaishali Raj, is his teacher. Along the way, he faces a conflict with Rahul, played by Ali Reza. The rest of the story unfolds to reveal what happens in Manohar’s life.

Positive aspects :

The movie is a sincere attempt to show the life of a young person aiming to achieve big things. Abhinav Gomatam, usually known for comedy, steps out of his comfort zone and gives a heartfelt performance. Even though there’s no comedy in his role, he impresses with his subtle acting. “Masthu Shades Unnayi Ra” reveals a different side of Abhinav Gomatam, suggesting he might take on more diverse roles.

The female lead, Vaishali Raj, has a substantial role, and she does well in her performance. Her scenes and the sweet romantic moments with the main character are enjoyable to watch. Nizhalgal Ravi plays an important role and leaves an impact. Other actors like Moin Mohammad, Ali Reza, Ananda Chakrapani, and Lavanya Reddy do decently in their roles.

Both parts of the movie have some engaging moments, and the situational comedy by the hero’s friend works well at times. Abhinav Gomatam faces a significant setback in his business and tries to keep it a secret from everyone. The scenes related to this are well presented. The writing is sensible overall, with a few bright spots in the dialogues.

Negative Aspects :

“Masthu Shades Unnayi Ra” could have been much better if the team focused more on the emotional side of the story. Since the film is about a character’s journey, adding more emotional depth to the storytelling would have greatly improved it. Unfortunately, the few emotional moments in the movie lack impact.

Another significant issue with the film is its title. The chosen title and the actual storyline are quite different. Titles often shape the audience’s expectations, and in this case, the filmmakers set the wrong expectation with a fancy name.

The ending of the movie drags on for too long, making it a bit boring as we can predict what will happen. The theme of inferiority complex, discussed multiple times in the film, is not clearly portrayed.

Technical Elements :

The music by Sanjeev stands out, but the other technical aspects of the movie are not up to the mark. The songs are good, and the background score is okay. However, the cinematography and production values could have been improved. The editing is not great, making the movie feel long and slow at times.

Director Thirupati Rao maintains a light-hearted tone with simple moments and situational comedy. While some parts of the film are well done, the emotional aspect could have been executed better.

Conclusion :

In summary, Masthu Shades Unnayi Ra tells the story of someone trying to achieve big things in life. While the effort is genuine, the emotional side falls short, and the events are quite predictable. This limits the movie from standing out. Abhinav Gomatam takes on a different role and does well with his sincere performance. The leading lady, Vaishali Raj, also performs well, and there are some interesting moments in the film. However, the prolonged ending and occasional slow pace are downsides. If you can overlook these issues, you might want to give this movie a chance.
