The body of Vetri Duraisamy, son of former Chennai Mayor Saidai Duraisamy, was recovered from the Sutlej river nine days after a tragic car accident in Kinnaur district. Vetri, a Tamil film director, went missing on February 4 while traveling from Shimla to Spiti. Despite efforts by various teams, including ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, and local police, his body was located 3 kms from the accident site by Mahin Nag Association divers.
The car driver, Tenzin, was found dead, and a co-passenger, Gopinath, is undergoing treatment. Saidai Duraisamy had offered a reward of Rs 1 crore for information on Vetri. Traces of human brain matter were found during the search, undergoing DNA testing.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed condolences, recognizing the heartbreaking ordeal for Saidai Duraisamy. Vetri’s body was sent to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital for postmortem before being handed over to the family.
