ETV Win, the Telugu OTT platform, has recently launched a new web series called “Sasi Madanam.” This series features Pavan Sidhu and Soniya Singh in the main roles and is directed by Winod Gali. Let’s find out how it fares!

Story :

Madhan (played by Pavan Sidhu), a guy from Warangal, and Sashi (played by Soniya Singh), a girl from Hyderabad, are deeply in love with each other. Madhan, known for his carefree nature, often seeks quick money through betting and rummy. One unfortunate day, Madhan loses a significant amount of money in a bet and finds himself in trouble with a money lender. To avoid trouble, he decides to take refuge at Sashi’s house, especially since her parents are away in Hyderabad attending a family wedding. Madhan believes this to be the safest option, but fate has unexpected twists in store for the young couple.

Positive Aspects:

The standout element of “Sasi Madanam” is the sparkling chemistry between Pavan Sidhu and Soniya Singh. As a real-life couple, they have captivated YouTube audiences for years, and their on-screen pairing in this web series once again shines with their delightful rapport. Their cute moments and playful banter are sure to bring a smile to viewers’ faces.

Several comedy scenes are well-crafted, with the matchmaking episode particularly standing out for its hilarious confusion comedy. While the concept isn’t groundbreaking, the witty dialogue and dramatic execution ensure plenty of laughs. Among the six episodes, this episode delivers a substantial dose of entertainment.

Pradeep Raparti, portraying Sonia’s father, deserves praise for his excellent performance. His delivery of dialogue and expressive acting add a layer of amusement to the series, making his character memorable.

Negative Aspects:

The core concept of “Sasi Madanam” is intriguing, and with better execution, it could have been a delightful entertainer. However, the romantic comedy falls short in seamlessly blending humor with emotional depth. While there are attempts at emotional scenes, they feel forced and often fail to resonate. The ending, in particular, wraps up too neatly without a satisfying resolution to the conflicts.

In terms of humor, the writing has its moments of genuine laughter, but it’s inconsistent. Some scenes try too hard to impress and end up missing the mark. The comedy sequences could have been more finely tuned to elevate the overall entertainment value of the show.

The subplot involving the second female lead doesn’t contribute much depth to the series and unnecessarily extends the runtime. While the inclusion of another love story may have had a purpose, it feels abrupt in the narrative and lacks impact. Many aspects of the show remain superficial and hurriedly addressed, leaving potential untapped.

Overall, “Sasi Madanam” shows promise but falls short of delivering a fully satisfying viewing experience due to its uneven handling of comedy and emotional elements.

Technical Elements:

Sinjith Yerramilli’s music in “Sasi Madanam” is soothing and well-crafted. The songs are neatly composed, and the background score complements the mood effectively. Cinematographer Rehan Shaik’s visuals are clean and aesthetically pleasing, showcasing good production values despite the series being made on a modest budget. The editing is passable but occasionally gives a rushed impression.

It appears the creators aimed for simplicity, but this approach unfortunately works against them. The emotional depth of the characters is underexplored, resulting in “Sasi Madanam” falling short as a romantic comedy. While director Winod Gali manages to create some enjoyable moments, the series as a whole fails to deliver consistent entertainment.

Conclusion:

Overall, “Sasi Madanam” has its moments, but fails to leave a lasting impression. Pavan Sidhu and Soniya Singh shine in their roles, displaying solid chemistry throughout. While some comedic attempts fall flat, the main issue lies in the show’s inability to delve deeply into its emotional core, ultimately leaving viewers wanting more.
