Kiran Rao has made a strong comeback with her latest film, ‘Laapataa Ladies.’ People are loving it for its heartfelt story and fresh faces on screen. In a recent chat, Kiran opened up about why she took a break from filmmaking to focus on raising her son, Azad, for the past ten years.
She shared the tough journey she went through trying to have a baby. Kiran faced multiple miscarriages and health issues before deciding to go for surrogacy to fulfill her dream of being a mom. Despite the challenges, she said raising Azad has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her life. She doesn’t regret putting her career on hold to be there for him.
Kiran also explained why she and Aamir Khan chose to talk openly about their surrogacy journey. They knew they were in the public eye and hoped their story would inspire and support others going through similar struggles.
In another interview, Kiran clarified some misconceptions about her relationship with Aamir. They didn’t get together during the making of ‘Lagaan’ as many people thought. They actually reconnected later while working on a commercial project.
‘Laapataa Ladies’ is set in 2001 in a fictional state called Nirmal Pradesh. The movie tells the story of brides Phool and Pushpa. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Kiran Rao’s Kindling Productions, the film has been a hit, completing a successful 50-day run and even getting screened at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
