Actress Rashmika Mandanna recently spoke out about the criticism she faced for her performance in a pivotal Karwa Chauth scene in the movie ‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor. Despite receiving cheers from the set for her nine-minute-long scene, she was taken aback when she faced backlash after the trailer release. In a candid conversation on Neha Dhupia’s podcast, she shared her disappointment with trolls targeting women’s bodies but expressed confidence in her acting skills.
Mandanna recounted how everyone on set appreciated her performance during the scene, but the response from the public was quite different. She found herself questioning whether she was disconnected from reality, given the divergence between her perception of the scene and the audience’s reaction.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, ‘Animal’ turned out to be a box office success, despite mixed reviews. Mandanna, who played the character Gitanjali, received praise for her portrayal.
Looking ahead, Mandanna is set to appear in several projects, including ‘Pushpa: The Rule’, ‘Kubera’, ‘Chhava’, ‘Rainbow’, and ‘The Girlfriend’, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
