Red Sea Crisis, Houthi Ship Hijack

In a bold turn of events, Yemeni Houthi rebels, allegedly supported by Iran, have commandeered a cargo ship bound for India named “The Galaxy Leader.” The vessel, carrying 25 crew members, was en route from Turkey to Pipavav, Gujarat, when seized in the Red Sea.

The Houthi rebels claim a connection between the hijacking and Israel, citing it as retaliation for Israel’s actions against the Palestinian group Hamas. They vow to target ships associated with Israel until the conclusion of the Israeli operation. Israel condemns the incident as an “Iranian act of terror” and a “significant global threat.”

This development raises concerns about the security of maritime traffic in the Red Sea, a crucial shipping route linking Europe, Asia, and Africa. Additionally, it highlights the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, extending into the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
