Sanjay Singh, an IPS officer who headed the investigation into Aryan Khan’s involvement in the Cordelia drug bust case, has decided to retire early from his role at the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Singh, who has served in various law enforcement capacities, will leave the force on April 30, earlier than planned. He expressed appreciation for his time at the NCB and mentioned personal reasons for his early retirement.
Singh’s career has been quite diverse, with experience in both the Odisha Police and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He gained attention for leading the team that re-evaluated the cruise ship drug case, which had stirred controversy under Sameer Wankhede’s leadership.
In May 2022, Singh’s team concluded that Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, and five others were not involved in the drug case due to inconsistencies and lack of evidence. Singh pointed out several flaws in the investigation process, including the absence of video recordings and reliance on confessions without medical tests.
