Delhi Police Crackdown on Public Obscenity

Delhi Police has cracked down on obscenity on the streets of the National Capital Region (NCR). Vineeta, Preeti and Piyush were arrested for indulging in indecent behaviour in public places in Delhi and Noida. The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the three individuals.

The IPC sections under which the FIR has been registered pertain to offences like rash driving or riding on a public way (279), public nuisance in all places of public resort (290), obscene acts and songs (294), endangering life or personal safety of others (336) and causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others (337). It is important to note that Section 279 deals with rash driving, and not obscenity. It is possible that the challan of Rs. 80,000 issued to Piyush is related to a separate incident of rash driving.

This incident highlights the importance of maintaining decorum in public spaces. The police action serves as a deterrent to those who indulge in activities that can cause discomfort or distress to others.
