Miss India Tripura Rinki Chakma, 28, loses battle to cancer

The vibrant soul and former Miss India Tripura 2017, Rinki Chakma, passed away at 28 after bravely battling breast cancer for two years. Admitted on February 22 and placed on ventilator support, her health took a downturn, making continued chemotherapy impossible.

In 2022, Rinki faced the rare malignant phyllodes tumor, undergoing surgery, but the cancer spread to her lungs and eventually to her head, forming a brain tumor. Priyanka Kumari, a close friend and Miss India 2017 runner-up, shared Rinki’s medical report to gather funds for her treatment. Femina, expressing sorrow, hailed Rinki as a remarkable woman, epitomizing grace and purpose.

In a heartfelt Instagram post in January, Rinki shared her arduous battle with cancer, stressing the importance of chemotherapy before a pending brain surgery, holding onto a modest 30% hope for recovery.
