Reports have emerged claiming that Meera, the daughter of actor and music director Vijay Antony, took her own life at her home in Chennai. The devastating news was confirmed by film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan. Meera was reportedly 16 years old.
Manobala Vijayabalan took to Twitter to announce the heartbreaking news, stating, “BREAKING: Actor and music director Vijay Antony’s daughter, Meera, has tragically passed away by suicide at her home this morning. SHOCKING! RIP Meera.” It is reported that both Vijay Antony’s family and Meera’s school friends will be questioned regarding this tragic incident.
In response to an older tweet from Meera’s mother, film trade analyst Ramesh Bala also expressed his sorrow, saying, “In March of this year, Mrs. Fatima Vijay Antony was overjoyed as her daughter, Meera Vijay Antony, was elected as the cultural secretary of her school’s student association. We all extended our heartfelt congratulations to her on Twitter. She meant the world to her parents. The pain is unimaginable.”
In March, Fatima Vijay Antony had shared a picture of Meera in her school uniform on social media, proudly announcing her daughter’s achievement at school. She had written, “The strength behind me, the comfort in my tears, the source of my stress (loaded with naughtiness) – my beloved Meera Vijay Antony. Congratulations, baby.”
Meera was a student at a private school in Chennai. Reports suggest that she was taken to a private hospital in Chennai, where she was declared deceased by attending doctors. It is also mentioned that she had been experiencing significant stress and was receiving treatment for it.
Earlier this year, Vijay Antony made headlines when he revealed that he had undergone surgery for jaw and nose injuries resulting from an accident on the sets of his Tamil directorial debut film, Pichaikkaran 2, in Malaysia.
