Siddhu Jonnalagadda, known as DJ Tillu, captivated audiences with his impeccable comedic timing and writing, earning a special spot in their hearts. This success paved the way for the sequel, “Tillu Square,” directed by Mallik Ram, with Anupama Parameswaran as the leading lady. With anticipation running high, the film has premiered today, and now, let’s delve into whether it has met the lofty expectations.

Story :

After earning a lot of money, Tillu (played by Siddhu Jonnalagadda) becomes an event planner. He’s still the same old Tillu, with his unique attitude and style intact. One day, he meets Lilly (portrayed by Anupama Parameswaran) and instantly falls head over heels for her. He starts trying to impress Lilly right from the start, but as usual, he ends up getting into a big mess. The story revolves around how Tillu manages to get out of this mess and what challenges he faces along the way.

Positive Aspects :

Movies like DJ Tillu and Tillu Square rely heavily on the main character’s personality, which is the biggest challenge for the creators. Tillu, especially, has become a favorite with the audience, making it tough to recreate the same charm. However, the team managed to pull it off brilliantly.

Siddhu Jonnalagadda shines throughout the film, stealing the spotlight effortlessly. He’s the heart and soul of the Tillu series, guaranteeing a fun time for viewers. Right from the beginning, Siddhu grabs your attention with his witty lines, body language, and hilarious expressions. His impeccable timing brings the humor to life.

Since Siddhu is also the writer, he understands exactly what the audience wants and delivers it perfectly. The second half of the movie is packed with continuous entertainment. The humor comes from clever one-liners and modern dialogues. Anupama Parameswaran delivers a solid performance in her bold role. She shares great chemistry with the protagonist, and her character’s journey is engaging, just like in the previous Tillu Square. The supporting cast, including Muralidhar Goud and Prince Cecil, also do well in their respective roles.

Negative Aspects :

The sequel picks up right where the first movie left off. However, despite a good start, things slow down a bit in the first hour. The romantic storyline is filled with jokes. While some of them are funny, others don’t quite hit the mark. This causes a bit of a slowdown in the story during the first half.

As mentioned earlier, movies like Tillu Square rely more on character development than on the plot itself. Those expecting a strong storyline might feel a bit disappointed. Some scenes might feel familiar because the story is quite similar to the first movie. The way certain things are handled may seem a bit silly. Additionally, Murali Sharma’s character doesn’t get much screen time, and the final twist feels a bit forced.

Technical Elements :

The songs blend well with the story, thanks to the work of Ram Miryala and Achu Rajamani. The background music by Bheems Ceciroleo matches the film’s fun vibe. Navin Nooli’s editing is solid, and Sai Prakash’s cinematography is vibrant and colorful.

The production quality is also impressive. Director Mallik Ram deserves credit for presenting a familiar story in an engaging way. While there are some flaws, the team manages to cover them up with humorous scenes.

Conclusion :

Overall, “Tillu Square” serves as a solid follow-up to “DJ Tillu,” offering plenty of fun. Siddhu shines as Tillu once again, bringing his hilarious comedy timing and charm to the forefront. While the storyline feels familiar and some scenes may feel repetitive, the film still delivers a good time.

The first half might feel a bit lacking, and certain aspects may not fully convince the audience. However, the second half is packed with continuous entertainment that works well. Despite a few bumps along the way, the entertainment value keeps the movie engaging.

If you enjoyed “DJ Tillu,” you’ll likely enjoy this sequel too. Give it a go for some laughs and entertainment.
